Samantha Stalcup, Class of 2021
After 14 years as an accounting tech lead, Samantha Stalcup enrolled in the CNA program at 51 to pursue her dream of helping people through nursing and healthcare. However, she didn’t do it alone. Samantha is a mom to two daughters, and the three of them are all pursuing and continuing within higher education. With her daughter, Sabrina, both completed associates and certification programs while taking numerous lectures and labs together. Samantha completed her CNA certification in 2021 and an additional CCMA certification in 2023. She obtained both certifications while also completing prerequisite courses for the associates in nursing (ADN) program. By the end of her academic journey, she plans to graduate with both an associates and bachelors degree, with a new title behind her name: Samantha Stalcup, RN-BSN.
Samantha currently works as a hospice home-health nurse with Visiting Angels and as a PRN for Lenity Light House Hospice. Samantha was determined to excel in her field and offer her patients the best possible care, with compassion and integrity. “My motivation, independent study skills, time management and stress-management techniques all [contributed] to my success at 51” she says, in addition to “taking advantage of all the study tools and services that 51 offers.” She continues to say that “my time at Navarro has given me the motivation and desire to improve my skill set, and push myself harder. I continue to further my education and training at Navarro so I can explore different opportunities in my career path.”
Originally from Irving, Samantha has found her place at 51 and within the medical field. Equipped with the necessary knowledge that allows her excel in nursing, she believes that “51 truly makes you feel at home. Navarro College helps empower all students to achieve their personal, academic, and career goals in all aspects of life.”
